Terna Headquarters
The renovation of the ground floor at Terna’s Rome headquarters was conceived to align with the company’s evolving cultural transformation, while providing a unique opportunity to reimagine workspaces to meet the demands of the modern, post-pandemic environment.
The design approach is twofold. Firstly, it addresses the company’s transformation by incorporating principles of flexibility, hybrid working models, and prioritizes employee well-being. This is achieved by creating versatile environments that balance privacy, collaboration, and seamless integration of advanced IT infrastructure. Secondly, the project introduces a bold aesthetic rethinking, blending materials and atmospheres that reflect Terna’s technological innovation and commitment to sustainability.
The ground floor is envisioned as a dynamic “public” space. The right wing is dedicated to a hybrid zone for meetings and work, featuring a bar, tech bar, and collaborative workspaces- each serving as hubs for relaxation, digital engagement, and teamwork- all within a flexible, interconnected layout defined by movable partitions. The left wing reimagines the cafeteria as a versatile space, designed to be active and engaging throughout the day.
Central to the project are several innovative design features, including the reception desk, bar counter, tech bar, and cafeteria blocks. These iconic objects, designed with Plastiz©, are made with a sustainable material made from recycled plastic, which not only underscores a commitment to environmental responsibility but also explores the aesthetic possibilities of new materials. The marbled texture, resulting from variations in color within the recycled material, adds a natural, organic touch to the space, reflecting the harmony between modernity and sustainability.
