Multifunctional building

Located to the south of the Porte des Lilas ZAC, the new building is set within an area undergoing major transformation, on the boundary between the municipalities of Les Lilas and Bagnolet. The project responds to the key objectives set by the client: to improve the relationship between the city of Paris, enclosed by the boulevard périphérique, and the neighbouring municipalities bordering the ZAC. In continuity with the green spaces of the Fougères district and with the network of sports and public facilities, the building includes: a sports centre — gymnasium, climbing area, multipurpose hall, outdoor sports fields —, a youth centre — music rehearsal rooms, multipurpose rooms — and a psychopedagogical support centre — offices and psychomotricity rooms. The site includes an open area above the deck covering the boulevard périphérique and a buildable plot with a dense programme. The project is developed around three main strategies, making the most of these assets: first, taking advantage of the open space. The project preserves part of the deck to create a garden, a buffer space, a pause, a surprise within the visual context of the périphérique. Second, imagining a deck-building system that ensures continuity between the district and its facilities. By placing the gymnasium underground, a highly permeable reception area is created at street level — ground floor — while, on the first floor, a sports area is directly connected to the deck. Third, designing a building with a compact and unified image, while maintaining the autonomy of its functions.
