On December 20th, the new Piazza Risorgimento was inaugurated by Mayor Roberto Gualtieri.
The interventions, which lasted three months, led to the pedestrianization of the road towards the Vatican Walls, the increase of trees while preserving the existing ones, and the expansion of permeable surfaces. Thanks to the use of calcestre, the pavement was removed, aiding heat control during the summer months.
“The land, and the people, are at the heart of the Piazza Risorgimento project, reimagined as an ecosystem of natural relationships. A new calcestre surface, trees, and large urban objects transform the spaces, activating new uses and forms of social interaction,” said Alessandro Cambi, partner at IT’S.
